As a first year teacher, I've included an odd assortment of tools that my students will need to be independent and creative in my project based classroom. The Coleman camp chairs are fantastic flexible seating options so that students can spread out to work in spaces that suit them. The markers and binders will be used to store plastic sheets that allow budding mathematicians to model problems visually and practice their fact fluency. I believe in honoring students as thinkers by giving them the tools and choice to do work that matters to them. All of these items contribute to student autonomy and will be exciting additions to our classroom!
