My students attend a rural, high-poverty, public school in Texas. Many families are struggling to make ends meet and don't have time to sit down and read each night with their children. They students have a desire to read, but not all of them have the ability. Many struggle with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. They look forward to class time when I read aloud to them. I'd like for them to have more opportunities to hear fluent reading on their own. They will be allowed to travel wherever the stories take them, without worrying about how they sound in front of their peers, or how to pronounce a certain word.

About my class
