I am in need of books to fill our class library. As a new teacher, I have been working to create a classroom that supports my little learners and have found that my classroom library lacking. I have done my best to accumulate books here and there over the years but am looking for support in getting books that support my students different interests and reading levels as well as books that represent peoples differences, teach important social skills and spark my students imagination. These little ones absorb information like sponges and I want to provide a variety of quality books that help them to develop a love for reading, learning, and being imaginative. Many of these books will be used for read alouds and social-emotional/social studies lessons and then put into our classroom library for students to explore. The non-fiction books will be used to integrate science into my literacy instruction and also as a way for kids to explore their interests and develop their reading fluency at their own pace. Many of these books are silly and fun because it is important to me that I support kids in getting excited about books and reading and being open and creative and imaginative. That's what kindergarten is all about.
