Most of my students have no access to a computer at home. Their only opportunity to work with one is at school using our interactive SmartBoard connected to my laptop and a projector. It’s like asking my 28 students to share one pencil. It breaks my heart to see their disappointed faces when this happens. Due to deep budget cuts, our school is unable to provide us with more technology. My students come from low socioeconomic families. Many have just enough money to cover their basic needs of food and shelter. Others are unemployed. I can only imagine how much more their enthusiasm and learning would grow in reading, math, and all the content areas if they had more updated technology available in the classroom.
