These lab coats will be used when students need to complete an experiment to hopefully deter in the harm of their uniform clothes. Many of the students I serve cannot afford new school uniforms if one is damaged for whatever reason. Science can sometimes get messy and it is essential to look for ways which avoid students being discouraged from participating. For many of my ESL students, it is their first time having a science experience. I think that it will benefit them greatly to receive the same experiences that suburban children get to have. All students deserve an equal opportunity to learn and be safe.
