I teach 8th Grade Language and Literature in Charlotte, NC, at Marie G. Davis IB Candidate K-8 School. It is in an inner-city magnet school. A magnet school in the CMS school district means basically that the parents of my students have chosen to pull their child out of a struggling "neighborhood" school and put them in our magnet school, with smaller classroom sizes and higher expectations. Some of the kids are on the bus 2 hours a day total, to get back and forth to home. We are in the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate School.
