These books will help create and expand my classroom library, which will give my students more opportunity to learn and develop a love for reading. Supporting students to become strategic and fluent readers is very important in second grade, as they build on those concepts greatly in upper elementary. As our district heavily implements the Daily 5 in our Language Arts curriculum, it is very important that students have a variety of books to choose from that interests them and compliments their skill level. The students will be able to choose 3-5 books from our classroom library every week, and keep the books in their book bins. When guided reading takes place, the students will utilize these books through Daily 5 centers where they will "read to self", "read to someone", and "listen to reading" with the awesome selection of children's books I will have to offer them in my classroom library.
