My students need hands-on STEM activity kits to help promote critical thinking skills and problem solving techniques. I am requesting grade specific STEM kits for each grade level to enhance our program. These grade specific kits will allow our students to explore topics such as Forces, Ice Age Adaptations, Fossils, Pollination, and Wind Power. The students will experiment with hands-on activities to enhance the learning environment. These hands-on activities will include projects such as making bees to "fly" to different flowers (glitter) to be able to fully understand the pollination process. They will also be able to understand the concept of force and gravity by making ramps of different lengths and heights. STEM is a new class at our school and these resources will be most beneficial to begin our journey. Instilling an interest at an early age can spark a lasting desire to pursue a career in any of these fields. The enrichment teachers have completed two STEM activities school wide, and the response from the teachers and students has been incredible. As soon as one activity is completed, they are anxious to find out what we will cover next. Theses resources will help enable the enrichment teachers to continue to motivate and keep our students excited about learning! Wow! How rewarding it is when students want to learn!
