I am so excited about the prospect of using these Kore Wobble Stools in our classroom for several reasons. First, it will allow better seating flexibility. These stools will be housed around several tables in our class. But students will be able to take them and use them at other places in our classroom. For instance, our classroom carpet gets very crowded at times. I envision the students sitting on these stools around the perimeter of the carpeting. They also can be used for small group instruction or independent work throughout the school days. Students will be empowered to make seating choices that will allow them to learn best. Secondly, the stools have been shown to assist some students with attention in a classroom. It can be a long day sitting in the same old chair at the same old desk all day long. The "wobble" part of the stool has been shown to help students get out excess energy and increase focus in class. I am excited to try this out with my class of diverse learners. Although switching out some chairs for stools in a classroom may seem like a minor detail, I believe it can help student focus and ultimately student achievement and engagement.
