I have the privilege of teaching at a school with exceptional teachers and students. My kindergarten class averages around 30 students. We have a large Hispanic population with English as their second language. I've had as many as 36 and as few as 29. Due to budget cuts, we no longer have aides helping out in the classroom. My students are enthusiastic, kind, and eager to learn. They can't wait to get to work in the morning with their reading, writing, and arithmetic! They are very proud of the fact they are reading and writing and it's only November. Over half of my class is on free or reduced lunch and we are a Title I school. Our low socioeconomic status does not hinder the achievements of our students, as our API scores are all over 800. We also earned the Distinguished School Award thanks to the hard work of the staff and students.
