My students attend a high school in Northern California. We are a large school of about 2600. The area is middle class but my students come from very diverse backgrounds. I have students who come from single-parent, low income homes and students who are from very high income, high education level families. We strive for each and every child to become college eligible so this is why the majority of our students take Biology. Biology is a very important science for all students to be exposed to. Regardless of their ultimate chosen profession, students will be more productive members of society and better able to make decisions about their health care and the care of others if they are good scientific thinkers with a firm grasp of Biology. My students learn best by doing real science. They excel when we get into the lab and they can see what happens!
