To begin: the rope lights will be placed on the perimeter of the classroom and turned on during reading and math rotations. The main classroom lights will then be turned off and the main lighting source will be the yellow rope lights, a lava lamp (which is also requested in this donors choose project) and whatever light can seep in through the blinds. Next, the lava lamp, that is also part of this donor choose project, will also be turned on during reading and math rotations. Its purpose is to calm or refocus a student whom need some down time or a break from the educational structure without causing a disruption in the class. It will be placed on a high shelf so it is visible to all students and to ensure safety for all. This minimal lighting will reduce the chances of headaches, allow students to feel safe and encourage them to relax and complete the task at hand. If you ever owned a lava lamp or know the sole purpose for rope lights you will understand why I have requested those items for my classroom.
