These resources will help students access learning opportunities by allowing them to experience movement in appropriate ways while learning. The flexible seating helps with motor and muscle control, increases ability to attend for longer periods of time, improves posture, provides student choice, and gives high-energy children an outlet while focused on academic instruction. Flexible seating will allow students to rock, bounce, wobble, lean, or stand which increases oxygen flow to the brain to help keep young minds focused and alert. Several of our students, both those with special needs and without, need more sensory input than is traditionally offered in structured classroom settings. This project helps fund resources that provide sensory input without being distracting, disruptive, or increase the opportunity for misbehavior. Students will be empowered to make their own choice for which seating style will help them learn best, stay calm, focused, and productive.
