An electric pencil sharpener is never used during my class. But before school starts, I always make sure to have over 30 pencils sharpened just in case someone's writing utensil did not show up with them to school or was overused during class. This preparation ensures more time focused on the task at hand and eliminates unnecessary disruptions. As an English Langauge Arts class, we enjoy all elements of English from writing, to spoken word, to silent reading, to a whole class open discussion, to creating visual representations of our thinking process. Hence copy paper and lined looseleaf as an empty canvas for their writings and visual displays of the literature they read can come to life. Even though we live in a technology-present, as students of English Language Arts and students of the world around us, our big ideas always start from the scratches we make on paper. With your donation, my students will know that someone cared about them and want to help contribute to their learning.
