My students are Special Day Class students who are currently in the 4th, 5th or 6th grade. They are classified, Learning Handicapped. That means they may be of average to slightly below average intelligence, but suffer from some sort of "glitch" int their "wiring", so to speak, that prevents them from learning as efficiently as their gr level peers. They are a very active group of mostly boys, and are a real treat to work with! These students are VERY EXCITED to learn about early Americans, this great country we live in and the people that helped make it that way. They are also VERY JAZZED when it comes to learning about science and especially performing experiments. Those activities help them feel like the "normal" students in gen ed classes. The sci/soc studies materials on my wish list, along w/ a camera & printer to document their learning will lend a tremendous boost of enthusiasm to my classroom!
