Middle school can be one of the hardest times of life. The struggle to know who you are and your place in the world can be terrifying and lonely. Additionally, today's society can be confusing and scary to navigate. I've found that one of the best ways I can support my students is to surround them with stories such as, "Ghost," "The Sun is Also a Star," & "American Born Chinese," that validate, challenge, & help them understand how others view the world. With titles such as these, I hope to surround students with stories that will help them understand current issues through the eyes of another such as racism, immigration & bullying. I hope to encourage empathy, kindness & understanding of others.
