These coding mice will enhance ALL of my students' abilities using technology in the classroom. With the world making so many advances in technology at such a rapid rate why not bring it down to kindergarten. My students will have the opportunity to work together to accomplish a goal of programming a mouse to get from one area to another. Now that might not seem like a lot to you but in kindergarten that is a BIG deal. First, they have to work together and second they have to think in abstract terms planning it out to achieve that goal. Think of the possibilities that I have can have them solve using this coding program in various subject areas. Student will have to find solutions to math problems, identifying letters and sounds, understanding goods and services, and various book elements to name a few. The possibilities are endless using this program. All of the coding activities that I have planned will embrace the needs of all of my students too. My students will share and respect all of the coding materials in my classroom. I plan on sharing these materials with my grade level to ensure that all of our kindergarten students can experience this technology and success. To advance this to a higher level thinking second stage I plan to allow students to come up with their own coding programs for their peers to solve. Just think of all the ways they can the students can grow and advance. The possibilities are endless. I can't tell you enough how excited I am to get them started with this new exciting coding program.
