My students would greatly benefit from the ability to read classic books that inspire a love of reading and a deeper understanding of the human condition. The plan is to read "The Giver" with my 6th grade class and "Lord of the Flies" with my 7th grade class. These books will help my students improve their reading comprehension and writing competency. They will also help improve my students' critical thinking skills and introduce them to the power and beauty of great literature. I believe that reading and exploring these books together as a class will be a beneficial experience for my students that will bring them together and help them grow as individuals.
