My special education students need a carpet in the sensory space in our special education classroom. This carpet will be used as the focal point so students will have a place to sit while utilizing the calming materials. What is a sensory/calming area without a comfortable place to sit and use the materials? My students need this sensory space to calm themselves from distracting and overwhelming things in their worlds so they can get back to learning. My students thrive when given a chance to calm themselves down between overwhelming work for them and overstimulation for most of the students.
