The children in my class have learning disabilities that make it difficult for them to learn from typical curriculum. The items that we have chosen will not only help our students learn, but will also help make school a fun and exciting place to be. Studies have shown the benefits of hands-on multisensory learning and we want to incorporate this in our class as often as possible! We have chosen a variety of language and mathematics activities that will be fun and appealing to the children while they are also learning important kindergarten skills to help them be successful in reading and math! The items in this list were all added for specific learning objectives. I have added reading and writing hands on activities for our students. The 2-Way Sand & Water Table with the Float and Find Alphabet Bubbles will be used in our Natural Environment Training Center to allow the children to play in sand and water while also learning their letters. The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and Alphabet Sounds Picture Puzzles will be used as supplemental hands on learning while we are teaching each letter sound. The Tactile Letters will help our sensory students feel the letter and develop motor memory for writing the letters. I have also added math related hands-on activities for my students. The Learning to Count! Dough Mats and Let's Go Fishing Counting Center will be used to help teach counting and numbers to students who need more sensory and play based learning. The Addition Flip and Solve Board will be used with the more academically advanced kids to help them learn addition through play.
