With this set of headphones and tablet, my students will be able to listen to books that will bring the outside world to them. I would like for my students to learn about other countries, cultures, and traditions in different parts of the world. I would like for my students to learn about their ancestors and the countries that their ancestors came from. I would like to use a tablet device to download books for the students to listen to. We live in a small community and these children are from rural homes. They will not get an opportunity to visit places in their lives and I would like to give them a chance to learn about people and places outside our environment. I could also connect the books that they listen to on the listening center to Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies and Writing lessons. I will use Thematic units to bring in all my subjects. I have noticed through many years of teaching that students have a deficiency in listening skills so this is why I need a listening center for my students.
