Since my students are from a very, very small rural community, I'm trying to get them exposure to things they may not encounter in their lives. I brought my rubik's cubes to class last year and several students showed interest in them and many have asked me to show them how to solve the cube. I thought that "Cube" Club would be a great thing to start here. I want to give students time to learn how the Rubik's Cube works and how to solve several different cubes. Through the steps of solving the Rubik's Cube, my students will learn several important skills that are useful in math. They learn how to look for patterns. They learn how to complete a series of steps based off what state something is in (great for solving equations). They learn how to repeat a process until they have mastered it (great for building work ethic and producing quality work). They learn how to be curious with something that seems so complex.
