Middle school students excel when they are given the opportunity to learn in an environment that encourages flexible seating. Flexible seating provides students with the opportunity to select where they feel they will learn best. In the past, my students have opted to work on the floor, under tables, etc. By providing my students with comfortable flexible seating choices, they will be more focused and engaged in their work. A positive learning community that allows students to complete their work in a comfortable space further motivates students to work to the best of their ability. By providing a variety of flexible seating options within my classroom, it will help in creating a positive, comfortable, learning community that supports a variety of learning styles. The flexible seating that I have selected will provide many different ways that my students can complete their work comfortably. The wobble stools will help with students that learn best while moving. The comfy floor pillows and lap desks will help students that focus better on the floor in a comfortable position. Each flexible seating option that I have chosen will best support the variety of diverse learners in my classroom.
