My students need multiple types of anchor charts daily: procedural, informational and example. I create the visuals for my students, we create them together or my students are responsible for creating visuals for our lessons and receive project grades for completion and presentation. My students need clear, well organized visuals, therefore we have anchor charts on every wall for class instruction, individual stations and projects. Each wall has its own category based on our individual station topics. I recently "gifted" each student a hardcover copy of the novel "Wonder" to read as a class novel. While reading, the students are building a "novel notebook" with key vocabulary for each chapter and notes for plot diagram. Each student is allowed to write in their copy of "Wonder", so there are color codes, synonyms/antonyms, figurative language, etc that must be highlighted. We also create anchor charts that reflect their notetaking skills. I encourage cleanliness in my classroom. At the end of each class, my students are responsible for cleaning the work space and making sure it is presentable for the next group. Wipes, hand sanitizer and tissues are always available and I try to never run out of the supplies, but they can be quite costly.
