Third graders are making the transition from learning to read to reading to learn. These items will help facilitate that skill. The clipboards will be used as they walk around the room reading and writing fluency phrases. The rugs are used during independent reading. Students are allowed to find a spot in the room to do some silent sustained reading. Our floor is tile and gets cold, especially during the winter months. I wanted rugs that are washable so when they get dirty or there is the threat of lice or bed bugs, we can easily wash them. I also chose colors that will hide stains so they can be used year after year.
