During our Native American studies, along with the intergration of science my 4th grade students will have the opportunity to collect and use natural materials such as tree and plant leaves to learn the process of dyeing silk scarves. This hands-on activty will give students the opportunty to learn about color, textures, and patterns that can be made from nature. During this art process students will create their scarf by placing leaves in various designs, then rolling and wrapping scarves with cordage. Once process is completed they will unwrap scarves to see the various colors and textures that come from the plants.
