The goal at my school this year is building relationships. Relationships define our lives, they build us up and enable us to empathize and support one another. Relationships allow us to understand others, to see differing viewpoints, to be accepting of differences. In my classroom we are missing a defined meeting area where we can come together as a community. A rug will make the space more comfortable and home like, which in turn will make the students feel more relaxed and cozy, more willing to open up and just be. A common meeting space will promote good relationships. It will bring us together as a class. It will center us and provide warmth.
