I spend each day with 25 inquisitive second graders. We spend our year building a foundation that will be vital to them throughout their entire lives. But what do kids really remember about second grade? I don't know about you, but when I think back to my time in second grade, I don't remember very much of our day to day learning. We do however, remember the way our teachers made us feel. We remember the times that teachers went out of their way to do something special for us. That's why I am asking for lab coats and goggles for my second graders, so that I can give them something special to help them remember what we are learning! The fantasy I have for the kids in my class is that each time they put on the lab coats and goggles, they are confident that what they are learning is special. With these materials my students will be actively engaged and pumped up about the science lesson they are about to participate in.
