The ability to fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide are everyday skills that are important in various ways in life. These tactile manipulatives allow the students to use various skills to help them with their fluency. They love being able to work independently on skills that they are acquiring and in the transition to mastering. These donations will help to keep my students more engaged in their own learning without feeling that they are doing work that is not the same as their peers, which in turn not only helps the cognitively but also social emotionally. This ability to feel independent and yet learning at your skill level is so powerful and meaningful in their own learning. Fluency is an important life skill that with these manipulatives and activities they are able to master these skills.
