The power of reasoning in math comes from seeing and doing. The resources requested in this project will allow my students to develop number reasoning. The math tools will help them visualize number relationships and help them apply them beyond the tools. The base ten blocks, place value dice, transparent color counters and ten frames will be given as an introduction to learning the math concepts and eventually taking them away slowly enabling them to visualize the numbers. The understanding that they students develop will give them the confidence they need to solve operations and problem solving. These tools will help with the process of learning. Second graders must be prepared to reason mathematically. The deep understanding through effective instruction using various tools will give them this ability. Each individual students is able to make progress mathematically and make important connections to the real world.
