When my project for is fully funded, my students will be able to use headphones to improve their vocabulary, phonetics, and vocabulary as they use audio-integrated classroom technology in my class. The technology that I am currently using is USA Test Prep, Quizlet, Google Classroom and Iready. Specifically, students will be able to be guided auditarilly through these nationally recognized learning programs and grow incrementally as new words are pronounced to them. In addition to teaching Science, I am organizing time after school to help students who are currently reading at a kindergarten level in middle school improve through the use of vocabulary and phonetical remediation. In addition to remediation after school, I remediate students in the area of language arts and grammar for 45 minutes every morning at school three times a week. Headphones prove invaluable, as students can hear words and their proper pronunciation at their leisure. Simply put, my students arrived underperforming in the most critical area in their lives - reading. It is my hope that when they leave, they can leave caught up, confident, and courageous as they continue on in their academic careers.
