Our classroom consists of different small learning groups on any given day. It is important to model to the groups what is expected of them at each learning center. The document camera is such a useful tool that it will be used daily in order to show their objectives and expectations. Additionally, I can use the new technology to display instructions or work samples so students know what is expected of them. It would be great to show students how to work problems on the exact same paper they are using rather than doing the work on a white board where my back is turned and I can't easily look at the students to check for understanding. The Scholastic News magazines will enable them to engage in more science-based, nonfiction reading. We will use these magazines during Enrichment and let them take them home to read with their families once we have exhausted the activities in the magazine. The versatility of the document camera will allow our fifth graders to become visually stimulated and increase their attention with a clear focus during our rotations and instruction. This particular document camera does not come with a power cord or video cable so I have requested those as well. We also need ink for our classroom printer. We will be using the document camera in many ways. We can demonstrate three dimensional objects for projects, show and correct their work, display a science experiment, and model high-quality writing. The learning possibilities are many!
