I will have approximately 10 more students in my classroom this year than last year. In preparation for a larger class, and in order to maximize learning, I am planning how to organize my classroom. The easel will help me better teach my much larger class from any area of the room where I am able to face all of my students and so I am not limited to a wall with my back turned toward them. Young children need to have flexible seating options to maximize learning. While the floor or carpet work well for students reading or working in groups around the room, the flexible chairs will be supportive and help the students be comfortable so they are better able to focus on their work. Pocket charts will help the students learn to become more responsible by having them interact with daily jobs and helping me teach the class through changing out various cards in them.
