The supplies I am requesting, such as the laminiator, astrobright paper, and rings will allow me to create long lasting, reusable materials to develop the articulation and/or language skills necessary for my students to be successful in school. The school supplies such as pencils, paint and glue sticks, will allow the students to complete these activities in a way that is fun and engaging for them. We build vocabulary by playing games such as memory with our laminated vocabulary cards. The students can then make pictures of the vocabulary, using the paint stix and then write a sentence about their picture with the pencils. This activity allows them to work on multiple goals, including building vocabulary, grammar, syntax as well as listening. Language is the foundation of learning and when children have delayed language/articulation it can impact their academic success. There is no curriculum for speech therapy. As a Speech Language Pathologists I must look at each child's individual needs and create materials that are fun and engaging for them.
