I am hoping that by having high-quality and high-interest materials to read independently and discuss in groups, students can recapture their early interest in books and stories. The students will read daily, both during class time and at home, will write about what they are reading as they read and after they finish, and have weekly discussions about their books in small groups. I will supply discussion topics at first, but hope the students will begin to develop these on their own. This project will require students to address all the common core ELA standard areas: reading, writing, language, and speaking and listening.
