The library is a much loved area in our classroom. My students are excited to explore various texts and cannot wait to dive into them. Watching their eyes light up warms my heart. Inpiring this love of reading starts with engaging mentor texts. With the use of mentor texts, it not only provides my students with the skills to become successful readers, but also exposes my students to a diverse range of concepts and ideas. With the use of these mentor texts, my students will be confident in their ability to identify main idea/key details, theme, story elements, text structurre, make inferences and predictions, and summarize. These mentor texts will allow students to take risks and encourage them to try new strategies. It will also expose my students to culturally diverse concepts and skills. Thank you helping me provide my students with these meaningful mentor texts to give them the confidence to become avid readers.
