Every day, our students are given the opportunity to go outside and release their energy in a positive way through Healthy Active Child (recess). We have basketball courts and a field, but no supplies for our students to use! Currently, for over 250 6th grade students, we have 1 basketball. That's it. This means the majority of our students are standing around the entire time, doing nothing. They miss the chance to run around and engage with their peers in a healthy and active way. These sporting goods and supplies would completely transform the way our students are able to utilize their time during healthy active child. The time spent with these new supplies will benefit them both inside and outside the classroom! Recess serves a critical role in school as a necessary break from the academic challenges our students face on a daily basis. Recess promotes a healthy lifestyle and provides a unique contribution to a child's creative, social, and emotional development. It allows our students to just be kids for a small portion of their day at school. Please help me gets the supplies I need to allow my students to engage with their peers and improve their social-emotional health, while realizing the importance of an active lifestyle to their success!
