Many of my students have never had the opportunity to experience the excitement and adventure that comes with the discovery of that “one” great book that can ignite a lifelong love of reading. I want them to gain that chance in my classroom with me fueling their excitement through novel studies. This project will help expand the variety of genres my students are exposed to, and in return, give them a broader range of books to fall in love with. One of my greatest joys as a teacher is when students from years past who were once “reluctant” readers excitedly ask, “Mrs. Simpson, you remember that book we read in your class? I LOVED that book!”
