Do you remember when you were learning how to add and subtract? Probably not, but I’m sure if you try hard enough to remember those early days of exploring numbers you will be able to picture some of the little “toys” that helped you begin to understand how numbers and their quantities work together. It is important for small children to have access to concrete materials when developing their understanding of mathematics, and for them to be able to access them independently will help them feel in control of their own learning. I also want them to be able to access the materials independently while I am teaching small group math, so that my lessons progress smoothly with minimal interruptions. This cubby storage unit will allow that.
