Many students in 3rd and 4th grade are learning how to code. Some coding systems require too much reading. The LEGO WeDo 2.0 is completely color-coded block-based programming, and taught in small steps. Online coding lessons are virtual by nature, but LEGO WeDo 2.0 allows students the hands-on experience of building a model, then being the one who tells it what to do and when to do it. My students do not have time for much STEM instruction in their school day. While other 4th graders are being introduced to coding, my students need this modification in order to access coding.
