My awesome students need a comfortable and inviting place to read. Making sure students are comfortable is essential in motivating them to read. As a third grade self-contained teacher, many of my students are very active and have difficulty focusing and sitting in their chairs. These large bean bag chairs will be used in the reading area of our classroom and will allow them to move in different positions while not interrupting their reading! My students mostly come from low socio-economic backgrounds. In addition to academic struggles, many of my students face hardships at home as well. Many live in single family homes and some have been homeless, living with extended family members or even in shelters. My students need a warm, inviting environment where they can feel comfortable and do their best. I want our classroom to feel like a home away from home for them, where they can focus on their strengths and not their struggles. For these reasons and more, I want to do everything I can to motivate them and help them become the excellent readers I know they can be!!
