I absoluty can't wait to start teaching my first grade class this year. We have some smart and energetic learners this year. My main focus this year is working on reading levels, phonics, language developing, writing, and reading with fluency and expression. I want to encorporate a classroom library this year and listening center to encourage these young readers. I wish to have books for all levels as they grow throughout this school year. We will also do book buddies each week and this will be a fun way for extending the classroom library at home and getting families involved. We will do a lot of reading group time as well as partner reading, and use apps on the computer in our listening center for extra guidance and practice for comprehension and word building. This project will help with books with this age group, and help them continue to have a love for reading. My main goal is to help each be his/her best.
