Working in small groups allows students' voices to be heard, needs to be met, and work to be completed in a quieter environment. Having a table designated specifically for small group instruction keeps the room organized and the flow of the space manageable. It also lets students know what to expect when they sit down at the table with me. At this small group table, I will be meeting with 4-5 students who are grouped with their classmates with similar ability levels. Grouping and meeting with the students in this manner allows me to deliver instruction that is exactly at the level it needs to be for them. It also allows me to give more focused attention to students when they meet with me, and receive more one-on-one help with their work.
