The students in my classroom have emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. A balance in their sensory input and output is essential to their daily success and interactions. A sensory supported classroom will provide the much needed support for each student to learn coping skills. These skills will help them work through their individual needs, breakdowns, and hard times. Each student struggles with individual needs and requires their own supports. I find that stress balls are great for while I am trying to keep their attention during direct instruction. I love to work with small groups together to support their social interactions, and the stabilizing balls would be amazing for this purpose. I also think the stabilizing balls would be great for incentives, exercise, focus support or strength straining. Providing the appropriate sounds, lighting and fidgit items will allow a bad day to turn around and become a good day.
