I have to honor to teach the young minds of the future stakeholders of Detroit. These students live in the inner city of what was once the second most populated city in the United States. The Downtown area of Detroit, Michigan boasts the resurgence of the community; however, the neighborhoods my students live in don't mirror the same. My students live in homes that frequently face water shut-offs, in neighborhoods that are void of grocery stores and fresh produce, and live amongst homes which are buried in blight. Despite their circumstances, my students have a burning desire to thrive. It is my goal to fuel and shape their minds. They deserve opportunities to explore and to soar!
