I teach fantastic 4th graders in a small town in Idaho. I teach at an elementary school of about 400 students grade 1-5. My school is a Title 1 school, and 65% of the children qualify for free or reduced lunches. We have a diverse population due to to the fact we border an Indian Reservation and teach the children of many migrant farm workers who work seasonally in agriculture in our county. Most of the kids, however, don't know they are "economically disadvantaged." They come from hard-working families and, when they come to school, they know that they are surrounded by people who care about them. My school is a happy, positive place to learn, and with us, kids are #1.
