Research shows that students are engaged and learn better in more comfortable learning environments. This project will fund a flexible seating environment for my students in order to create a "coffee shop style" classroom. When students are comfortable and focused, they WANT to be there and they WANT to learn! Giving the students choice in their learning environment fosters responsibility, self-awareness, and engaged learning. Items such as the lap desks, chair cushions, wobble chairs, and yoga balls will create comfortable learning conditions with freedom to wiggle, stretch, and move as needed. These items are mobile and can easily be moved to various locations in the room. By using flexible seating, we can easily create an open-concept room or use the resources to create nooks and section off the room for individual learning spaces. The variety of flexible seating options will allow each learner to have many options to make the best choice each day to be successful. Flexible seating choices build skills that students will carry with themselves throughout their entire lives. By funding this project, you are giving students the resources to succeed!
