I want to turn my classroom into a place that feels comfortable, cozy and invites students to sit down with a great book. I want to provide my students with a space that feels like home. What student wouldn't love a spot filled with organized books, a bean bag, rug, table and lamp in their classroom? A goal for my students this year is to LOVE reading and to increase their overall reading stamina. Providing my students with flexible seating will allow them a space to encourage a deeper experience with their book. Flexible seating has been shown to have great benefits for students. Having a comfortable and inviting reading space will allow my students the ability to build their own identity as a reader. When students are given choice and control over their own learning environment they feel empowered. An empowered student is unstoppable, courageous and determined. These students are less likely to be distracted, which will encourage a deeper experience with their book as well as increase their reading stamina. Most importantly, a bean bag chair, rug, table and lamp will make reading FUN! My students will be more motivated to read when they have this amazing reading space in their classroom
