Can elementary students learn to code? Why yes they can! When students enter my school, I have an expectation that they will develop their inquiry and collaboration skills through meaningful experiences, such as through coding. Having a variety of tools like the Mattel Bloxels, Sphero, and the micro:bit tools will allow all of our students, K5-5th grade to develop not only their coding skills but work collaboratively to create using technology instead of just consuming technology. I want students to see that coding is not just for creating games, but can be used in other ways as well. Having a variety of tools at our disposal will allow all students to engage in these various coding experiences.
