Our students read to make connections, make sense of the world around them, and to grow. I will use these books in my mini-lessons to help engage my students. With our thriving diversity, it's crucial that students have a sense of belonging. For some kids, it's as easy as finding a book with a character who has similar experiences as them. We are requesting culturally responsive books that will help my students develop their love for reading. When students can see themselves in a story, they are able to apply lessons to their own life. These books will help inspire students to work through their hardships and work towards being the best that they can be.
